Library NEWS:

The Mount Pleasant Public Library has a lot going on.  Our special programs and events are making the news.

The What's New Listing and spotlighted programs are published monthly in the Mount Pleasant Journal.

From "The secrets of Egypt revealed" by Marilyn Forbes, published in the Daily Courier on January 24, 2006--

"Kids are fascinated by the wonders and mysteries of Egypt -- the pyramids, the tombs, the legends and the myths -- and with this in mind, the Mt. Pleasant Public Library will be offering two sessions of Egyptology classes for preteens and teens, beginning Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the library in the borough."

From "Season of Braddock" by Amanda Cochran, published in the Tribune Review on June 19, 2005--

"Jamie Falo, Mt. Pleasant Library director, said display tables in the library and period crafts are being planned for children at the marker's dedication. Snyder said a parade through Mt. Pleasant will help mark the occasion."

From "Borough commemorates Braddock's Journey" by Rachel R. Basinger, published in the Daily Courier on April 16, 2005--

"A group of local business owners and residents in Mt. Pleasant continue to make plans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Maj. Gen. Edward Braddock and his army's trek through their town.

The group will remember the event on July 2, which is the actual date Braddock passed through the town."

From "Making nature fun" by Marilyn Forbes, March 10, 2005--

"Did you know an opossum has more than 40 teeth, giving it the distinction of being the mammal with the        most teeth? Did you know that although the alligator and crocodile are both reptiles, they each have four-chambered hearts like a mammal?
Facts like these are passed along by Mary Lou Shick, Mt. Pleasant Library children's librarian, while she presents one of her monthly "Nature Appreciation and Hobby Development" programs."
